The Optical Imaging Lab is developing the technology for rapid diagnosis of neurological disorders and brain injuries in newborns (among other applications). Because it is portable and completely safe, it could also permit continuous, real-time bedside monitoring, thus serving as a screen for other imaging modalities (MRI, for example).
